    lies and more lies...we were never ancestors of the lapita people...every generation in the pacific originated from Fiji...its the oriental bloodline that infiltrated the Pacific..Checkout Lemuria..ruled by my forefathers the Itaukei..civilisation did not start in Africa but from us...until this big island fell into the oceans...some facts the colonials and white educated scholers dont want to acknowledge....land stretching from NZ all the way to Hawaii...stop with your nonsense.

    Wow, that just sent shivers through my spine and made me shed some tears. I have watched this because of Te Rito Toi (www.teritotoi.org/menu/level-one-lesson-plan-one/?portfolioCats=33) and our current world situation of the pandemic Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19 and how teachers can support their students once we go into Alert Level 2. What amazing work was done with the students of Christchurch back in 2011 and just think that young girl will now either be in Year 10 (same age as my youngest daughter) or Year 11 dependent on her age at the time. Such a wonderful gift was given to those students! Think if this was modified for older students as well as adults, given there are a lot of people suffering anxiety, stress and much more how it could help so many become much more resilient in their thinking and way of living because life will never be the same again as we once knew it. Thank you for this, appreciate the work. "He waka eke noa." "We're all in this canoe together." Seems appropriate to use this whakataukī given the message being delivered around the world is "Even apart, we've managed to stay connected together."

    When I was a kid growing up in Oklahoma, I would find a mulberry tree and eat mulberries until my hands and face were purple. It never occurred to me that you could make cloth out of it. Do the people of the Pacific *eat* mulberries?

      Tapa are Austronesian culture, Batik is advance states of Tapa, Tapa original from Indonesian, but Polynesia and Mirconesia may lost metal technology, cannot bring horse, waterbuffalo, elephant, but only bring taro, yam, mulberry, chicken, small pigs and unwanted 'rat', some knowledge making of iron, rice paddy and others exist in Malaysia-Indonesia also gone. but some tradition surivive like making pottery, architecture, stonework, tapa/bark cloth, making ship and boat, craving and farming of taro, yam etc.

    Europe has not yet learned how to be multicultural. And I think we are going to be part of the throes of that transformation, which must take place. Europe is not going to be the monolithic societies that they once were in the last century. Jews are going to be at the center of that. It’s a huge transformation for Europe to make. They are now going into a multicultural mode, and Jews will be resented because of our leading role. But without that leading role, and without that transformation, Europe will not survive.[

    This video is shit, obvious sensationalism that doesn't make any real arguments. "quality public education" if it weren't for the fact that this doesn't exist, and that teachers unions have been ruining the public education system for some time. I don't even get how people can justify the need for public sector unions: the reasons unions are necessary in the private sector don't even apply to public sector unions. Their motivations and agenda is so obvious, and it's so clear that students are far from the priority. I mean, just look at tenure laws and how backwards they are. There is literally no incentive to keep good teachers and fire shitty ones in the current system, and it's showing in the performance of public schools and parents desperation to get their kids into better schools. Teacher's unions in the public sector work only to protect bad teachers, and they are rewarded only for being part of the corrupt system for a long time. These people are greedy and want money as much as anyone in the private sector, except they have some of the most powerful lobbies in the country as well as government force to keep them afloat. They don't want their profits to be determined by people choosing to send their kids to their schools, but by forcing money from the taxpayer and justifying their existence and the expansion of their power any way they can.

    • @omgshift111
      @omgshift111 9 років тому

      Hmm you make some interesting points but seem to be missing the main message of the video. The comment on unions was a side one. It is about charter schools. Would be interested to hear your opinions on this. I will say though - teachers are pretty much at the mercy of government policies. It is important that they are given a voice, as often the people making regulations are not teachers and don't really understand how children learn/the role of a teacher. While I agree that protecting bad teachers is destructive, I also think it is important that teachers are allowed agency in the classroom. More and more they are being pressured into making kids pass literacy/numeracy tests... Which lacks so much understanding about education and children's development.

    H. H. Cadard, chairman for the Psychology Department at Princeton, called government schooling approvingly -- "the perfect organization of the hive with the anthill". Cadard wrote further, "standardized testing would cause the lower classes to confront their biological inferiority, sort of like wearing a dunce cap. In time that would discourage reproduction of the ants on the anthill".

    The real purpose of modern schooling was announced by the legendary sociologist Edward Roth in his manifesto of 1906 called SOCIAL CONTROL. Your librarian will easily be able to get a copy of this book. In it Roth wrote, "plans are underway to replace family, community and church with propaganda, mass-media and education (of course he meant schooling)...people are only little plastic lumps of dough".

    Throughout studying; learning intentions, success criteria, planning, achievement levels, control and the curriculum have been drilled into me day after day. I felt like if this is what teaching is all about I didn't know if I could do it everyday. This brought back the real essence of teaching that I had signed up for when I enrolled. Finally someone has shown me the beauty of authentic teaching and learning. Can't wait to cease these moments. Thanks Peter you have really made a difference.
